A man stood tall, a true man

In the history of every land, there are names that shine like torches in the darkness. Jamshid Sharmahd is one of those unforgettable torches in the history of Iran, who, through his actions and sacrifices, raised the banner of resistance against tyranny.

From birth to his tragic death, Jamshid Sharmahd was a true example of a genuine fighter whose ultimate goal was to save Iran. While he was flexible in his actions, he stood firm and resolute in his stances and words. His open opposition to the Islamic Republic was the clearest proof of his defiance against despotism.

At the same time, he criticized the policies of Reza Pahlavi, as he believed their approaches to struggle were not aligned with the needs of the people or the realities of the situation. Jamshid Sharmahd opposed any form of foreign intervention and warned against a monarchy intertwined with an official religion, especially Islam, which he considered oppressive. He believed that until Iranians achieved national awareness and a collective will, no foreign force could bring freedom to Iran.

Jamshid Sharmahd was one of those fighters who abandoned the comfortable life he could have had with his family to embark on the difficult path of resistance. Like Kaveh the Blacksmith, he raised the flag of justice. With his own blood, he paved the way for the freedom of future generations of Iranians. This was at a time when he could have lived a peaceful life abroad, indifferent to the fate of the people, as many other exiles do.

He did not only sacrifice his life for Iran’s freedom but also became a powerful voice for justice and humanity, rising against oppression and injustice. Sharmahd would say, “Iran must be freed by Iranians,” and he believed that nothing but a true Iranian monarchy was suitable for the country. He emphasized that an official religion had no place in politics and that the nation must be governed without dependency on religion or foreign powers—stating that Iranians must liberate and rebuild their homeland themselves.

In the end, this tireless fighter fell victim to the mercenaries of the Islamic Republic. He was abducted and, after enduring imprisonment and torture, was killed in prison by this criminal regime. Today, Jamshid Sharmahd has become part of Iran’s history, but his name remains alive in the hearts of freedom fighters. He is a symbol of resistance and steadfastness against tyranny—a torch that lights the path forward.

A man stood tall, a true man.
