According to a 120-page document claimed by The Telegraph newspaper, Reza Pahlavi has been evaluated by the Supreme Leader’s office and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a suitable candidate to approach Donald Trump, to encourage him not to attack Iran or make any deals regarding lifting sanctions. Efforts have been made to recruit him.
Although the report indicates that there is no evidence of lobbying by Reza Pahlavi in this regard, the lack of transparency from both Reza Pahlavi and Donald Trump in this matter suggests that these individuals may have been involved in this project.
Two important points arise:
1. What price or promise has led Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to agree to this? Was it money, documents, and assets of the Pahlavi family, or the promise of succession after Khamenei? The latter seems more likely, but these documents indicate a deeper level of deals and betrayals against the Iranian people and nation.
2. Considering that Reza Pahlavi has been directly “recruited” by the Commander-in-Chief and the Leader of the Muslim World, those factions within the IRGC or reformists hoping for a coup or regime transformation by restoring the monarchy have essentially lost this possibility as long as Khamenei is alive.
Furthermore, whether the objectives of this document have been achieved or not, it is clear that the future power-wealth structure of the Islamic Republic will not change. With this development, all individuals, institutions, and countries that have viewed Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as an alternative to the Islamic Republic must now reconsider their perspectives.
This great and unforgivable betrayal should not be overlooked going forward.
Long live Iran
